What is search engine optimization?
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the traffic to your website from search engines. It's both an art and a science with no exact formula for success.
The ability to get your website ranked high on the list has many factors, but the biggest one is keyword competition. If there's little competition for what the search terms for which you would like to rank highly, then it will be easy to get you to the top of the list. In many businesses, such as real estate or law, the competition can be intense.
Companies that provide SEO are not privy to the exact, technical methods of how search engines score websites for ranking. However there are "best practices" and what follows are the SEO steps we take on the websites we build.
The first thing we do for our SEO clients is a bit of research to find the exact terms people are using when searching for services or products related to their business. We'll work to uncover niche terms that might be overlooked by many of your competitors. These nich terms can be quite easy to boost your site to a top ranking.

How does Google Analytics work?
Google Analytics generates detailed statistics about the visitors to a website. It is free but you will have to sign up for an account. Once you get the account you'll get some HTML code that you'll send to us so that we can put it on your web pages and the analytics/tracking will begin. We can help you through the process of signing up if you'd like. It's pretty easy and takes about five minutes.
If you integrate Google Analytics with AdWords, you can review online marketing campaigns by tracking landing page quality, sales, lead generation, and the effectiveness of specific pages on your website. To stay current on all things "Analytic" visit the Google Analytics Blog.
Website Hosting
- The price is only $14 per month for most websites
- 24/7 monitoring of hosting facility
- Twice per day offsite backups of all your hosted files
Does ID Web and Print own their web
hosting servers?
No we don't own our own servers. Instead we lease server space from one of the most reputable, high quality hosting providers in the business. In fact, most web development businesses lease server space rather than owning their own servers. We will take care of all the setup, management and billing for your website hosting.
Our web hosting prices start at $14/month and this level of service is suitable for just about all of our clients. Your server will be located in a data center in Dallas, TX which has around the clock monitoring and high levels of security. See the specifications for more details.
A website has to be hosted on a web server to be made available to everyone on the Internet. Web hosting provides businesses, organizations and individuals with a computer file server for storing and sharing information, images, and videos.
There are two main operating system choices when it comes to web hosting, Unix and Windows. Unix is widely regarded as the most reliable, and it's what we use for our web hosting server.
Content Management System
- Allows you to add and update content and images yourself
- Fresh keyword rich content will help your website rank better on Google, Yahoo! and Bing search engines
- We offer full website maintenance services if you would rather leave it to us
What is a content management system?
A website content management system (CMS) allows you to add and update content and images yourself. After initial set-up and training, you won't need to use a web designer for content updates. If you're planning to update your website content more than a couple of times each month, using a CMS is highly recommended.
By updating your site regularly and adding new content, you will help your search engine ranking as well. As you create new content you're bound to be adding keywords that will help your search engine results. You may be adding niche keywords that are not part of your target keyword list, and generating business and visitors from new areas.
Some of the main benefits of a CMS, include:
- faster turnaround time for editing current content
- makes adding new pages easier
- it's quicker to directly edit the site than send a web developer email messages and attchments
- easy learning curve
- reduced site maintenance costs
Domain Name Registration
- We suggest 1and1.com for domain registration
- Domain name fees are about $9 per year
- Make sure you are the full owner of your domain name
How does the domain name system work?
Domain names are used to identify your website on the internet. In reality your website domain is a series of numbers, know as an address. The domain name system makes it possible to refer to your unique numeric address with an easily memorizable name, like "idwebandprint.com". The domain name system also makes it possible to move your website to a totally different server location on the internet without changing your name.
Domains are typically registered as .com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, and .edu, but many other types are available including country specific names. To register a domain name you must use an authorized domain registrar. The first thing you'll do is conduct a search to see if your domain name is already registered. If not then you're free to claim it as your own. If it is already registered, you'll have to choose another name or contact the current owner to see if it might be for sale.
The annual fees range between $6.95-$35.00 per year depending on the registrar. Our registrar of choice is 1and1.com and they charge around $9 per year.
If you don't have a domain name, we'll help you get one. We can take you through the process of registering your domain name or do it for you. Either way you will be listed as the Administrative contact which has the highest level of control over a domain. Never give anyone else, including a web developer, the Administrative role.
Google AdWords
- Target your advertising to people searching for your type of product or service
- Control your daily and monthly AdWords advertising budget by setting limits
- Only costs $5 to sign up for an AdWords account at Google
What is Google AdWords?
Google AdWords lets you create ads and then they display them to people searching for products and services online. AdWords is keyword-based advertising, where your ads only show for keyword related searches. You don't pay for simply appearing on a search results page, but only for the actual clicks that bring customers to your website.
For example, when someone does a search for "estate attorneys Atlanta, GA" Google shows all the relevant search results. Along with the non-paid "organic" search results Google displays AdWords ads above and to the right of the non-paid search results.
AdWords may also be a good choice when you have just a few dollars for reaching your audience. You can advertise on Google for as little as $1.50 a month. Google charges just $5 to sign up for AdWords, and after that, you can set a budget as low as five cents per day. It costs more to send five U.S. mail letters a month.
AdWords doesn't charge a set price for ads, but instead operates on the auction principle. You bid on the keyword/s that you want to trigger your ads and if you bid higher than everyone else who has bid on the same keyword/s, your ad will probably appear near the top of the sponsored search results.
We say "probably" because when Google decides who gets the top search listings among the sponsored links, they factor in how many people click through for each ad in their list, giving preference to the most effective ads. Therefore you can't buy the top spot outright, but if you create effective ads that many people choose over competitors ads, you should be able to match a competitor with deeper pockets.
As an example, let's say you set a maximum bid of 75 cents for the keywords "Atlanta GA Estate Attorney", and the next highest bid is 62 cents. Google will give your ad priority status among the ads it serves up. What's more, Google charges you only a penny more than the second-highest bidder, so you may never even have to pay your full bid of 75 cents.

How much does a website cost?
Although it's an important question, it can’t be answered without specific details about your particular web design project. Our pricing varies depending upon a large number of factors. For instance, a basic website with few complex technical needs, such as calendars or member management, will cost much less than a website that requires a great deal of specialized coding.
Comparing the design profession to any other is by no means exact, but the, "How much does a website cost?" question is kind of like asking a real estate agent, "How much does a house cost?" It's easy to come up with a quick ballpark quote after a short conversation regarding your needs. A more complex website may require a longer research period prior to a firm quote, but a basic website can often be quoted immediately over the phone (706-338-1464) or by using our price quote form.
Do I own the copyright after the job is complete?
Our clients receive full copyright ownership of the completed website. Original files are available upon request.
I found a business that charges less than you. Can you match their price?
It depends. If their price is within 10% of ours we may be able to match it. For price quotes outside that range we probably can't help.
Unlike a car or a bicycle, design is not a commodity, so it's up to you to decide which company will do the best job creating your website while working within your budget. Although we're not the cheapest solution we try to keep our prices within standard web design pricing. If you have budget concerns we may be able to accomodate them by reducing time spent in the design phase and limiting the number of design revisions included in the price.
Can you start right away?
It’s possible, but we need to pay close attention to our current clients and their ongoing projects. Taking on too many web design projects at once will adversely affect our current clients. Please contact us to determine a timeframe for your project.
How long will the project take to complete?
We'll come up with a schedule at the beginning of the project that will list deadlines such as when initial design comps are to be completed, and how long the revision process will take. Depending upon the complexity of the logo design project, it can take from a few weeks to around six months.
What are the steps involved in having a website built?
- Consultation
- Content
- Design
- Production
- Maintenance
How will I receive initial design ideas?
We will post design ideas (comps) online for you to review. You'll be able to access the design comps on a web page, so others on your team may review them at any time. As revisions are made they will be posted on the same page with a revision date so that the evolution of project can be tracked.
Will I be able to update the website?
Yes you'll be able to update the website. We build some of our websites with WordPress which allows immediate website editing by you after the site is complete. Some websites might require Adobe Contribute ($189) to edit the website content. We can help you decide which one you prefer during the consultation process.
Do you research the websites of our competition?
Evaluating your competition is a necessary part of the process. We research client competitors for every project, but if you choose not to have this research documented, it can save you money.
What can be done to market the website once it's built?
We can set up a Google AdWords campaign to help your website attract visitors who are actively seeking your services or products.
Do you do projects for people located outside the Athens, Atlanta and Augusta Georgia area?
Yes we do. We have clients located in San Francisco and New York, and work with them remotely on their projects.
How long have you been in business?
We've started our business as aaa-studio, LLC in 1997. We changed our business name to ID Web and Print, LLC in 2009.
How do you accept payment?
We accept credit cards or business checks.
